User Rights

Lupinar is a public space shared by a variety of people. Every individual as a user is entitled to protection of their fundamental rights.

Lupinar is a gossip-free zone. Users are responsible for protecting the environment of our public space by handling personal disputes discreetly and with respect of other’s rights.
Users should not engage in libel or character assassination. Lupinar is available for all different types of people as long as they remain in accordance to our fair policies and rules.
User rights form the cornerstone of any community. These rights encompass a spectrum of principles that strengthen individual dignity and ensures a just and equitable experience for everyone.

Here, we look into these principles and briefly explain their significance:

_____________________________________________________________

Respect for Individual Dignity:

Every user is entitled to be treated with dignity and humanity. This means refraining from engaging in behavior that belittles, degrades, or humiliates individuals based on their identity, opinions, or background.

Right to Equal Treatment:

All users, regardless of their background or identity, are entitled to be treated fairly and equally. Discriminatory behavior, such as libel or slander, not only violates this right but also erodes trust within the community or team.

Right to Consent:

Users must give informed and voluntary consent for the collection and use of their data. All user documentation should be kept casual and direct. Clear and concise information about data practices should be provided to users to ensure their consent is meaningful. This is done through our TOS, user agreements, and FAQ. However, it is within your responsibility to maintain that user’s right to privacy and consent is never breached.

Right to Neutrality:

Neutrality is a critical component of an equitable environment. It ensures that decisions and actions are taken without bias or favoritism, thereby ratifying the principle of equal treatment.

Right to Transparency:

Using plain and straightforward language when communicating with users is vital. Clear communication ensures that everyone understands the intentions and actions of moderators or other decision-makers, promoting transparency and fairness.

Right to Accountability:

Users have the right to seek redress when their rights are violated. Accessible information outlining their rights should be provided, and clear mechanisms for reporting grievances with volunteer staff.

In essence, these principles serve to create a harmonious space where all of our rights are preserved. Supporting these rights not only fosters a sense of inclusivity in our community, but also promotes a positive atmosphere of trust. It is through the recognition and enforcement of these rights that individuals can engage in our community with confidence, knowing that they are both protected and respected by each other.

Moderators should have an edified view of users rights, and understand when their actions may be inappropriate.

The following is a list of examples of actions that may infringe on the rights of users. Such examples demonstrate inappropriate behaviors and should always be reported on to the appropriate parties.

Discrimination:

Moderators should never discriminate a user for their beliefs, race, gender, sexual orientation, opinions or any other personal characteristic. A moderator shouldn’t jeer or mock another user for any reason.

Exclusion:

Moderators should never engage in behaviors that ostracize or exclude a user based on their characteristics or beliefs. Moderators should not attempt to isolate, triangulate or segregate users.

Harassment:

Moderators shouldn’t condone or cooperate with behaviors that harass or bully a user. Defamation of character is an inappropriate method of disciplinary action, regardless of the user’s reputation.

Invasion of Privacy:

Information pertaining to user reports and history should never be shared with uninvolved users, even between friends. Moderators must respect user privacy, and refrain from engaging in discussions with friends or otherwise that may infringe on the rights of others.

Bias & Arbitrary Enforcement:

Rule violations should be handled consistently and without bias from the report handler. There are no unspoken rules that users are expected to abide by, and rules should be applied fairly to individual cases.

Unforeseen Punishments:

Moderators should never issue unwarranted punishments, or excessively police user behaviors and actions. Users cannot be banned without clear evidence of rule violation. Long ban durations should be based on objective decisions made by the Administrators.

Transparency:

Transparency should never infringe on the rights of users privacy and safety. Moderators should always communicate with users about their personal warnings or bans, pivotal changes to the rules, alterations to the site, idle-time kicks, and other pressing platform-wide issues.

Retaliation:

Moderators should never retaliate against a user for expressing dissatisfaction with moderator decisions or other complaints.

Coercion & Manipulation:

Moderators should never pressure users to comply to arbitrary demands or conform to beliefs. Users are responsible for their own decision-making. No moderator should attempt to control a user’s beliefs and opinions.

When a moderator gossips to you about another user, they infringe on that user’s rights to privacy and safety. It doesn’t matter if you are friends; it is inappropriate to engage in behaviors that belittle and dehumanize individuals. All users are entitled to these rights.
